Wine Tasting - Redi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2005

"What contemptible scoundrel stole the cork from my lunch?"
 -- W.C. Fields

Hello everyone!  I hope that you have nothing short of a simply wonderful day.

OMG!  Not another wine from that "The Wines of Tuscany" class that Tiffany and Chucky attended on April 17th?  Uh... er... it most certainly is.  It would be a crime on our part not to share our observations with you.

Tasting sheets as follows.

Review A

Review B

Tiffany and Chucky rated Nose Intensity, Taste Characteristics, Balance and Length exactly the same for this gem of a wine.  The only rating difference was but a single point on Fruit Intensity.  Reviewer A smelled flowers on the nose whereas Reviewer B sensed chocolate and cherry.

Available information as follows:

"Just below the star wine Briaro is the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano from Cantina del Redi.  Consisting of 90 percent Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and 10 percent Canaiolo.  Vino Nobile is aged in large Slovakian oak barrels (a small percentage is aged in French oak barriques) for 24 months followed by 6 months in the bottles.  This wine is deep ruby in color with berry and spice bouquet.  It has a longer, tannic finish and is excellent.  Redi produces 50,000 bottle per year."

Yet another fine specimen that reaffirms the Italian certification system.  The DOCG stamp of approval holds true with this selection.  No doubts about it.  I will say it over and over again... Find me a red Italian wine that is anything less than delicious and I will show you a fraud.

Hi-dee hi-dee look-for-the-DOCG-label-on-Italian-wines-ho my friends.

  1. I am loving all these wine reviews! :) Too bad it'll be near impossible for me to find these here in Vancouver! Great blog!

  2. What about the Costco in downtown Vancouver? Does Costco Canada not sell spirits like they do here in the US?

Just curious... where does most of the wine in Canada originate? France and domestic? No allowance for mail order either? Say it ain't so!

    Thanks for the kind comments.
